Meet Anthony Lopez   C.E.S.  N.M.T.

Anthony Lopez is a Level 2 C.H.E.K. Practitioner, a Level 2 Nutrition and lifestyle coach, a Golf Biomechanic, and a St. John Neuromuscular therapist.  His unique, multi-disciplinary approach to exercise and nutrition seeks to address the areas most likely to reap the greatest long-term reward.  He applies his skills to best suit his clients’ needs as an individual and is very committed to helping his clients reach their goals.  Anthony also enjoys participating and competing in various sports including the Oklahoma Scottish games where he was voted “best new athlete of the year” by the Oklahoma Heavy events athletics in 1999.

Frequently asked questions:

Q:  Is Anthony a “personal trainer”?
A:  Anthony has devoted his entire life looking at how integrated control systems can be affected with improper and proper form and functioning of the body.  Since everybody has to perform a series of movements throughout the day, Anthony uses a multidisciplinary approach to exercise and nutritional coaching.  Anthony’s title is “corrective exercise specialist”.  Comparing a specialist like Anthony versus a “certified personal trainer” is like comparing a family doctor with a brain surgeon or a construction worker vs. an architect.

Q:  Can Anthony write me an exercise program without an assessment?
A:  Exercise, sports, and activities of daily living are like a series of earthquakes to the body.  Designing an exercise program without a structural and movement assessment is like an architect building a house without blueprints.  Anthony is a firm believer that the body must be “built” according to a plan.  Dr. James Cyriax D.O. once said, “your treatment is only as good as your assessment”.  On the same note, your exercise and stretching program can only be as good as your assessment.  If your not assessing, you’re guessing.

Q:  So what “exactly” does Anthony do?
A:  After obtaining an initial assessment, for one hour each client receives manual release, stretching, and strengthening of certain soft tissues along with nutritional coaching in order to maintain structural homeostasis.  Anthony’s training has taught him that postural distortion, dysfunctional biomechanics, and muscular tonus dysfunction are inseparable.  Some of the most common recurring problems that involve these physiological abnormalities are:

-Low back pain     -Knee pain
-Whiplash    -Migraines and tension headaches
-Hip pain      -Irritable bowel syndrome
-Frozen shoulder syndrome  -Bunions
-Carpal tunnel syndrome   -Tennis elbow
-Shin splints   -TMJ dysfunction
-Scoliosis   -Sciatica
-Fibromyalgia    -Chronic fatigue syndrome
-SIDS

The five stages of rehabilitation or “what Anthony does” consists of the following:
1.  Release the hyperconstricted tissues (manual therapy)
2.  Restore Biomechanics (movement therapy for joint restoration)
3.  Restore Flexibility (corrective stretching)
4.  Build strength (weight training)
5.  Build endurance (this also applies to job and sport specific training)

*If rehabilitation is attempted without following this order, reinjury or setbacks usually occur.  For example, if an injured person attempts weight training before the hypercontraction has been properly eliminated from the tissues, the result is that the tissues will re-spasm and the old pain patterns will recur.  How fast it takes to get from stage one to stage five varies from the individual’s training background, age, diet, water intake, length of trauma to soft tissues and willingness to change certain lifestyle habits.
